Fire victim receives donation from Essequibo Praant Mahila Mandalee

first_img− a single act of kindness can change someone’s worldThe Women’s arm of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, the Mahila Mandalee, on Sunday donated several household items and cash to fire victim Sohodra Sukhai aka ‘Aunty Finey’, 69, of Henrietta Village, in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) .The upper flat of Sukhai’s two-flat house was completely gutted on September, 9, 2016 by a fire which erupted during a welding operation. The widow was living with her daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.On learning of the tragedy the Mandalee donated two mattresses, one mosquito net, one bowl set along with cash. According to the Mandalee Chairwoman Gaitree Budram, the group is very saddened over the family’s loss.During a visit with the family, Budram encouraged them to have faith in God and pledged the Sabha’s support in rebuilding their future. Budhram said that the group is conducting a clothing drive for the Sukhai family.Sukhai thanked the organisation for its timely donation and expressed thanks to God for her survival. She only recently lost her son and husband.The family lost the upper flat with furnishing, a fridge, television, etc, including the children’s school supplies and clothes. BCCI revises India-New Zealand Test series itinerary

first_imgThe BCCI on Tuesday swapped the venues for the second and the third Test matches against New Zealand while the first match will be hosted in Kanpur from September 22.The board had earlier announced Indore’s Holkar Stadium as the venue for the second Test from September 30 to October 4 and Kolkata’s Eden Gardens for the third and final match from October 8 to 12.But with Durga Puja celebrations clashing with the third Test, the iconic Eden Gardens will host the second Test from September 30 while the third match will be played in Indore from October 8.There were no changes for the other fixures. Dharamsala will host the first ODI on October 16 and Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla the second on October 19.Mohali will host the third game on October 23 while the fourth and fifth matches will be played at Ranchi and Visakhapatnam on October 26 and 29 respectively.last_img read more
